THE BANDS :
JIMMY
THIBODEAUX (USA) :
http://www.jimmythibodeaux.com
Jimmy
is a native of Eunice Louisiana in the heart of Cajun Country. He
started playing the accordion at the age of 8 and studied the style
of two legends, Belton Richard and Clifton Chenier. In the late 60's
Jimmy joined Camay Doucet's band and played the accordion for the
band until their split in 1976. After ten years in the oil field,
Jimmy decided that it was time to return to his first love, performing
live music. In 1986 he joined a local music group that eventually
became known as Gumbo. The Gumbo CD was nominated for a Grammy.
From
Gumbo, Jimmy's accordion talents afforded him the opportunity to join
forces with MAMOU to produce the CD, "Mamou Comes To Town"
on Cajun Crawfish House Records. Jimmy wrote and produced "Bourbon
Street Party" an exciting and catchy CD on the Swallow Label.
The
CD Bourbon Street Party was nominated for a Grammy. Jimmy Thibodeaux
has been heard throughout the country. Jimmy has opened for stars
such as Doug Stone, Mel Tillis, Loretta Lynne, and Conway Twitty.
Out of so many great bands in New Orleans, Jimmy's band was chosen
to perform for the grand opening of the Louisiana Super Dome with
Bob Barker. Good Morning America interviewed Jimmy in New York while
he was playing for the 100 Year Celebration of the Statue of Liberty.
The first New Orleans' Jazz and Heritage Festival featured the music
of Jimmy Thibodeaux and today many visitors seek the grandstand playing
Rockin' Cajun Zydeco.
Jimmy
Thibodeaux was featured on an episode of Elimidate that is currently
in the shows re-run rotation.
ZYDECO
JOE (USA) :
http://www.ccwproductions.com/zydjoe.html

Joseph
Mouton is one of Zydeco's hidden treasures. Although he rarely performs
outside of his native Acadiana, Zydeco Joe has long been a fan favorite.
He performs the traditional style of zydeco, often sung in his native
Creole French. His high-energy brand of music has earned him a legion
of faithful fans who come out whenever the 'JackRabbit' is performing.
Zydeco
Joe's CD, Jack Rabbit, has been acclaimed, both critically and commercially.
This CD shows Zydeco Joe at his best, representing his Creole Culture
and keeping its essence alive. This CD is one any true Zydeco lover
must have.
Zydeco Joe has, in the last year, again begun touring outside of Louisiana
and Texas. He has performed at the Greater Connecticut Cajun and Zydeco
Festival, The National Council for Traditional Arts Festival, City
Stages and several other national festivals along with spot dates
in Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida. It is his first tour of France
this summer.

Gary Hayman's report...
Each
August, for the past 12 years, thousands of people attracted by
Cajun and Zydeco music will gather in the small town of Saulieu
(Burgundy), France to share great moments of music, dance, cinema
and gastronomy at the Cajun & Zydeco Nights Music, Film
& Food Festival.
In 2006, the Festival will celebrate its 13th anniversary, a good
occasion for having a great time and great bands !
The stars of this year's 2006 edition will be
JIMMY THIBODEAUX & Gumbo Cajun Band
(La, USA)
and
ZYDECO JOE & Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler (La, USA)
Those two musicians are among the most outstanding in Louisiana
for their quality.
Supporting the great festival music line-up will also be the River
Zydeco Band (NL), The Hackney Ramblers (GB),
The Cajun Roosters (D/GB), Des Fais Do Do
(NL), the Creole Cats (D) and
the French groups of Blue Bayou, Bayou Chicot and
Ton Ton Gris Gris.

The 6th edition of the Louisiana Film Festival at Saulieu
will be presenting film projects of music, history and culture of
South Louisiana on Thursday night 3rd August.
An extensive training course of C/Z dance will
be held on Saturday, conducted by dance instructor teams of Martine
and Yann Manac'h, Sylviane Jean and
Bernard Guihard. These extensive all day courses will carry
a fee.
A Cajun accordion workshop lead by instructor Daniel
Chapy
(of the band Belisaire) and a violin workshop lead
by instructor Vincent Giarrusso (of the band Chere Alice), will
be held on Saturday.
As for gastronomy, Michael Richard, the well renowned
Chef from Lafayette, Louisiana, will be cooking his Cajun specialties
at the 'Espace Restaurant' on Saturday and Sunday .

Finally, the Festival will be extended beyond the regular weekend
to Monday, August 7th where we will move several miles down the
road for a 'Louisiana Night' at the club 'Le Cornemuse'
in Arleuf (20 miles distance) where The
Cajun Roosters (D/GB) and The Hackney Ramblers
(GB) will perform again.
Saulieu Cajun & Zydeco Nights has become very
popular for thousands of music and dance lovers who like to gather
in this little village in Burgundy area of France every first full
weekend of August for four days and nights of music, dance, film
and gastronomy. Visitors come from all over Europe, the USA and
even Australia ! From the great Saturday night dance featuring top
European and Louisiana Cajun and Zydeco bands and more than one
thousand dancers in a huge ballroom, to the outdoor free afternoon
dances or informal sessions in the bars, come and experience one
