LAFAYETTE RYTHM DEVILS (USA)

The Lafayette Rhythm Devils are the house band at Randol's Restaurant in Lafayette on Wednesdays. When we get to see them occasionally in Eunice at the Liberty Theater, it's a special treat. The Rhythm Devils provide a tight, technically precise sound, but, much more importantly, they clearly are having fun, and that joy and excitement comes straight through in their performance. They offer mostly Cajun standards, but there's nothing routine in the way the Rhythm Devils play: every cut sparkles with fresh energy.

COREY LEDET & HIS ZYDECO BAND (USA)

Originally from Houston, Texas, Corey grew up hearing the records of Clifton Chenier, Rockin' Dopsie, and many other great musicians. By the age of 10, Corey began playing the piano key accordion, and after graduating high school, Corey moved over to south Louisiana.
Corey "Lil Pop" Ledet has been setting local Zydeco and Cajun dance halls and festival stages on fire. Whether he is playing his single row or piano key accordion, Corey's music ranges in style from old-time Creole and Zydeco to music done his own way.

European bands :
The festival music line-up will also feature the following European bands :
DOWNTOWN CAJUN BAND (NL)
CAJUN
CAJUN ROOSTERS (D/GB)
LA PETITE OU LA GROSSE (GB)
ELVIS FONTENOT & THE SUGAR BEES (GB)

Each August, for the past 15 years, thousands of people attracted by Cajun and Zydeco music will gather in the small town of Saulieu (Burgundy), France to share great moments of music, dance, cinema and gastronomy at the Cajun & Zydeco Music, Film & Food Festival.
In 2009, the Festival will celebrate its 16th anniversary, a good occasion for having a great time and great bands !

The stars of this year's 2009 edition will be

LAFAYETTE RYTHM DEVILS

COREY LEDET & HIS ZYDECO BAND

Those musicians are among the most outstanding in Louisiana for their quality.

Supporting the great festival music line-up will also be the Cajun Roosters (D/GB), La Petite ou la Grosse (GB), Elvis Fontenot & the Sugar Bees (GB), Downtown Cajun Band (NL) and the French groups of Belisaire, Grand Prairie Special and Blue Bayou.

The 9th edition of the Saulieu Louisiana Film Festival
, mastered by filmmaker Jean-Pierre Bruneau, will be presenting film projects of music, history and culture of South Louisiana on Thursday night 6th August.

An extensive training course of C/Z dance (conducted by dance instructor teams of Yann Manac'h, Sylviane Jean and Bernard Guihard) and cajun instruments (conducted by instructors
Gilles Kusmeruck, Vincent Giarrusso and Christian Gualdi) will be held on Saturday.

As for gastronomy, Michael Richard, the well renowned Chef from Lafayette, Louisiana, will be cooking his Cajun specialties at the 'Espace Restaurant' on Saturday and Sunday.

act : 01.48.57.49.72 ail :  jpbruneau@chello.
Finally, the Festival will be extended beyond the regular weekend to Monday, August 10th where we will move several miles down the road for a 'Louisiana Night' at the club 'Le Cornemuse' in Arleuf (20 miles distance) where Cajun Roosters (D/GB) and La Petite ou la Grosse (GB) will perform again.

Saulieu Cajun & Zydeco Nights has become very popular for thousands of music and dance lovers who like to gather in this little village in Burgundy area of France every first full weekend of August for four days and nights of music, dance, film and gastronomy. Visitors come from all over Europe, the USA and even Australia ! From the great Saturday night dance featuring top European and Louisiana Cajun and Zydeco bands and more than one thousand dancers in a huge ballroom, to the outdoor free afternoon dances or informal sessions in the bars, come and experience one of the most cheerful C/Z Festivals in the world.

The Saulieu area has a lot to provide in regards lodging (top quality hotels, bed & breakfasts and campsites), food and landscapes (gentle mountains and lakes of the Morvan area). All the different festival locations are centered and can be reached on foot in less than five minutes. From the Paris airports, it's very easy to get to Saulieu by high speed train and bus.
